Dell updates Vostro 3000 laptops too

After the update of its Inspiron R series notebooks, Dell now is refreshing and its business oriented 13-, 14-, 15-, and 17.3-inch Vostro 3000 series laptops with, as you may guest already, the fresh 2gnen Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. The machines feature a touch aluminum finish, have a chiclet keyboard, also gets SRS Pro sound and HD webcams.
Other than that they can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM, switchable graphics, HDD and SSD storage options, six- or nine cell batteries for up to 12 hours battery life, have finger-print readers, USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 3.0, and come pre-installed with Skype and the SRS Premium Voice Pro software.

The laptops will become available from March 22 with choice of three colors – Aberdeen Silver, Lucerne Red and Brisbane Bronze with prices:

Creative’s Android ZiiO tablets get Froyo update

Creative has announced that their ZiiO Android-based tablets will receive an Android 2.2 (Froyo) update for the joy of the their owners. The first which will get the new goodies will be the 7-inch variant, beginning 25 March 2011 and the owners of the 10-inch sibling can expect the new update from April.
If you wondering what’s new, this upgrade includes the ability to install apps on storage, text-to-speech engine, greater language support and flexibility of viewing pages in both desktop and mobile formats which means that pages can now be seen in their original lay-out without truncation. The update will be available from either Creative’s website or ZiiO Space portal.

Gateway intros NV Series laptops with AMD Fusion APUs

Gateway today introduces a new line of notebooks which are powered by AMD Fusion platform (Brazos). The new models from Gateway NV Series are fitted with 15.6-inch (1366 x 768) Ultrabright LED-backlit displays, dual-core APU and Radeon GPUs. The laptops offer multi-gesture touchpads, dedicated numeric keypad and special dedicated “social networking” button that allows customers “one-touch access” to their social networks, including Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.
The flagship model of the series, the Gateway NV51B05u is packed with AMD’s E-350 processor, Radeon HD 6310 graphics, 3GB of memory and starts at $469.99. The more budget-oriented models- NV51B02u is equipped with AMD Processor E-350 and starts at $449.99, while the NV51B08u packs GHz C-50 APU and starts from $399.99.

The new offerings also include up to 500GB of storage space, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, a 1.3 megapixels webcam, USB ports, D-Sub and HDMI outputs, and a DVD burner. The laptops comes with Windows 7 Premium and pre-loaded with Microsoft Office Starter 2010, a 60-day trial of Norton Internet Security, and Adobe Reader 9.1, nad are now available backed by a one year warranty.

Sony prepares VAIO Hybrid and VAIO Chrome notebooks

According to Sony Insider, Sony is preparing a two new notebooks, one which is an interesting VAIO Hybrid PC and the other one will be based on Google’s Chrome OS. The VAIO Hybrid PC will consists of two components, a thin notebook powered by Intel Core i7 processor, and some kind of docking station that will provide discrete GPU (AMD Whistler-XT with 1 GB VRAM), Blu-ray disc writter, ethernet, USB ports, HDMI and VGA outputs, weighing around 0.68kg.

The notebook will weigh around 1.13 kg and will be also equipped with SSD storage, Intel Wireless Display and featuring Intel’s Light Peak technology, known also as a Thunderbolt and available on Apple’s new MacBook Pro. It will provide from 8 to 16.5 hours battery life.

As for the Chome OS notebok, it will have dimensions of 298 x 215 x 19.9 mm, weighting around 1kg, fitted with 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) display and will be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chip. Other specs include 1GB of RAM , a 16GB eMMC for storage, WiFi, battery that offers 8 hours of operation and wide keyboard (18mm) which will be pretty similar to the Google Chrome Cr-48 laptop keyboard. There will be also a Bluetooth and GPS features that will be added on the later models.
The launch of the new machines is expected to be this summer.

MSI adds 15.6-inch GX680 gaming laptop to its portfolio

The newest addition to MSI’s G Series of gaming laptops is called GX680 which is armed with Intel’s second generation Core i7 quad core processor, nVidia GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics card and offering smart wrap around sound experience courtesy of Dynaudio, THX TruStudio Pro.
The GX680′s body is sheathed in MSI’s glossy color film print that protect from scratching and wear, feature rhombic pattern below the keyboard and chrome plating on the touchpad, and has aglowing white MSI logo in the center of the cover. It also feature “one-of-a-kind LED light show” that makes the lights embedded in both sides of the notebook and in front of the keyboard to pulsate automatically to sounds emitted by the laptop. The GX680 can be configured with 15.6-inch Full HD (1920×1080) or HD (1366×768) LED backlight displays, up to 16GB of DDR3 memory and up to 1,5 GB RAID 0 accelerated dual architecture. The computing power comes from Intel Core i7 2630QM Processor backed by Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, while the visual power is offerd by the DirectX 11-supporting nVidia GeForce GT 555M discrete graphics card with 1GB DDR5.

The gaming machine has a chiclet keyboard, 2.1ch speakers backed by THX TruStudio Pro sound, HD720p webcam and all connectivity options which you need at present days – Gigabit Lan, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, a 5-in-1 card reader, HDMI and USB3.0 ports. The laptop also includes i-Charger, Cinema Pro, ECO Engine power saving technology, Turbo Drive Engine (TDE) and Cooler Boost technology. It has dimensions of 395 x 267 x 55mm andweighs 3.5Kg with its 9-cell battery.
The price at this moment is unknown.

Acer realeases Iconia Dual-Screen Touchbook

Acer has announced that their dual screen notebook/tablet, the Iconia Touchbook is now available for pre-sale in US and Canada, and shipping will start next month.
The Touchbook sports two 14-inch LED backlit LCD muti-touch screen displays covered with Gorilla Glass and packs packs a Core i5 family of processors, 4GB of RAM, Intel HD graphics, up to 750GB of storage, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n/ WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, HDMI interface, one USB 3.0 connector and a 4-cell battery.
The notebook runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and comes with a customized software suite that includes a Ring Control Interface, a touch-based browser, virtual keyboard and various apps and other digital media tools.

The Iconia Touchbook hit the stores shelves in April, priced at $1,199.99 US.

Hercules unveils new eCAFE Netbooks

Hercules unveils the latest generation of its eCAFE Netbooks – the eCAFÉ Slim HD and the eCAFE EX HD, for which the company claims that has the best battery life on the market.
The new 10.1-inch models have backlit LED screen with 1024 x 600 resolution and are powered not by an Intel Atom or an AMD CPU, but by ARM Cortex-A8 Freescale processor backed by 512 Mb RAM. Other interesting decision by Hercules is that they don’t have high-capacity hard disk drives or solid state drives and come with Flash iNand memory – 8GB for eCAFÉTM Slim HD and 16GB for eCAFÉTM EX HD (8GB Flash iNand + 8GB SDHC memory extension card bundled), extendible up to 72GB. They also include essential connectivity like LAN and WiFi 802.11b-g-n and offer also 3 USB 2.0 ports and 1 mini-USB port, HDMI (EX HD), multimedia card reader and headphone and microphone jacks.

Both laptop have slender design, offer chiclet keyboard with flat, separated keys and their screens fold into the body, for portability and better protection.
